Today marked a first for our troop.  Due to the severe heat warnings, the morning Merit Badge sessions were moved to 6 AM and 7 AM and the afternoon sessions were moved to the evening.  During the day, the waterfront area was opened.  Certain Troop 374 scouts saw opportunity with this schedule alteration.  They were able to complete two additional merit badges this week.

Also, Mr. D, SP, MT and JM completed their induction into the OA today.  It actually started last night.  They spent the night alone under the stars.  From the moment they were tapped out last night, they said nothing and ate nothing (except what the OA provided them with).  All day today they performed service projects.  They were being watched the whole time.  Candidates who maintain total silence and joyfully perform their tasks become members of the OA.  They will then watched during the upcoming year.  Those who continue to serve joyfully will be elevated to the Brotherhood level of the OA.  Beyond that, those who continue to serve relentlessly will be elevated to the Vigil level.  In 1994, Committee Chairman Pat Neal became the only person associated with Troop 374 to receive that honor.
