Everyone was up early today and we were out of camp by 8:30 AM. We went to the Wisconsin Dells to visit Mt. Olympus Water and Theme Park. It was a huge park with lots of water slides, pools, go-cart tracks, roller coasters and other rides. Everyone had a great time.
When we got back to CFL, we completed check in and went to take our swimming tests. Everyone passed first time. We hiked up to the field of trees that they had themselves planted just three months ago. The troop was very encourage to see large leaves on so many of the seedlings. As soon as they are slightly larger, these trees will be transplanted to other areas in the campground.
During the hike, an army of ticks attacked the scouts. It takes a tick about four hours after attaching itself to a human to start transferring any harmful substances. The CFL medic removed all of the attacking ticks within minutes of the tick attack. Ticks were a nuisance during the troop's 2003 trip to CFL as well.
The troop heads over to the flag poles for the opening ceremony and dinner. We then enjoyed a hot dog dinner and then went to the CFL opening campfire down at the fire bowl.
We then enjoyed a hot dog dinner and then went to the CFL opening campfire down at the fire bowl. Later on, back at camp, we planned everyone's merit badge schedule. It was a very late night, but everyone was excited about getting started.
