For many at Troop 374, this was our first Eagle Ceremony. It turned out to be every bit as spectacular as we imagined it would be. The scoutmaster decided to use the "Protest Ceremony." During the swearing in of Glen, scouts from all ranks interrupted the ceremony to ask if Glen had actually completely endured all that a scout needed to endure to become an Eagle Scout. The scoutmaster and members of the committee answered each and every "protest" well so that everyone knew what Glen had gone through to become an Eagle scout.
The cake ordered for Glen is one of the last of its kind. For decades, Carney's Bakery was known as "THE" baker of DuPage County. Soon after Glen's Eagle Ceremony, the Carney family retired and closed their doors.
The party was simple, yet eloquent. Everyone enjoyed the lively fellowship together.
