Devil's Lake
Friday Evening
Since it is normal for traffic jams to occur on the Northwest Tollway near Elgin on Friday evenings, our convoy headed out on I-88 past De Kalb to I-39, then North past Rockford. True, it is 21 miles longer, but to avoid major traffic jams, this alternate turns out to be a great escape route from the western suburbs.
We stopped at a Wendy's for a break along the way.
Due to illnesses of family members, several drivers were not able to make the trip. Thankfully, a person with extensive scouting experience with both Pack 374 and Troop 374 offered to drive in their absence.
The experienced scouts knew what needed to be done. They sprang into action the moment we arrived. Camp was established in record time.
One driver brought some logs along. After removing the logs from the trunk, we noticed that an ant colony had moved from the log to the trunk
