David's Eagle Ceremony
David D. embarked on the journey to Eagle Scout nearly a decade ago.
The Ushers distribute the programs as the scouts wait eagerly for the Eagle Ceremony to start:
David's Wheaton Bible Church mentor opens the ceremony with prayer.
Former Troop 374 Scoutmaster Rick Loechl welcomes guests and leads off the ceremony.
Mr. T., Troop 374 Eagle Advisor explains the roots of the scout law, which dates all the way back to Greece.
He reads some of the text in Greek. Mr. Loechl reads the English translation.
Each of the troop leader discusses a historical aspect of the scout history.
Several Troop 374 Eagle Scouts participate in the program.
David's mother pins the Eagle Badge on David's uniform, then David's father places the Eagle Neckerchief on the uniform. David pins Eagle Insignias on both of his parents.
Scoutmaster Tim Byam shows the Troop 374 plaque, which now is inscribed with David's name.
Tim also thumbs through the Eagle Book that is given to David from the troop. It includes the blue merit badge cards, and about five dozen letters from the current President and Past Presidents, cabinet members, Supreme Court Justices, members of the House and Senate, our Governor, many officials (including our Senator and Representative) from the great State of Illinois, our local Chief Judge, Sheriff, Mayor Carr of Wheaton, in addition to notable sports and business personalities.
David takes a moment to thank a number of people who made his journey a successful one. He also gives a gift to two of the most important people in his life, his mother and father.
Brad Rhoads dismisses the ceremony with a benediction.
The troop poses in the Atrium at the Wheaton Bible Church.
The afternoon was not over yet. There was a reception waiting for everyone in the Fireside Room.
The reception room was trimmed to perfection.
