GeoTrek Continues
After the tour of the caves we had a short break.
We met Ellen again at a gazebo outside the caves office. She gave each of us what appeared to be a mere bag of sand. She taught us how to separate the gems and stones from the sand.
Once the samples were separated, the scouts were taught how to discern the different types of elements.
It was time to "go deep" with one more interactive Powerpoint presentation.
The troop gave Ellen a hearty applause to thank her for a fascinating morning. We walked away with a better understanding of the world of Geology. During the morning each of our scouts earned a Geology Merit Badge.
As we headed back toward Wheaton we stopped at Culvers for a late lunch.
