Saturday

These two "Camp Mel at Dawn" photos (courtesy of Tom Maude) were probably taken just after 5 AM

Troop 374 is blessed to have a new bugler.  He played Reveille, Call to Colors and Taps on Saturday.

For breakfast, the scouts consumed 60 scrambled eggs and 80 sausage biscuits.

After breakfast the troop divided into four groups, each led by a senior scout, and proceeded through an Orienteering course the Mel had set up during the week.

The scouts had hot dogs, macaroni & cheese and chips for lunch.  We had home made brownies and cookies for dessert.

During the morning, Assistant Scoutmaster Tom Maude took a Hike around Blackhawk Lake

The afternoon was free for anything the scouts wanted to do.  Some headed back into the valley to have fun with some rock hopping.  (The rocks are in a creek so if a scout missed one of the rocks, the punishment of falling into ice cold water is immediate.)  Many of the scouts worked on advancements with Mr. Byam.

After retiring the Colors, the troop had a very filling Pasta dinner.

We celebrated a birthday of one of our new Eagle Scouts.  Then it was time to settle down at the campfire for some jokes, skits and a few games of Mafia.

Since everyone was rather tired, most were in their tents by 10:30.
