Congrats for completing your Eagle packet. Soon you'll be hearing from the committee about scheduling a board of review. Aside from yourself, the participants will be the Three Fires Council BOR Chairperson, a few (if not all) of our troop's committee members and perhaps a parent or two from the troop. Take note that no ASM, SM, your Mom or Dad are on this board. The board will review your entire Eagle packet in private including, reading aloud, your letters of rec. After this review is completed, they will ask you to join them and your BOR will be conducted; can last between 20-35 minutes 'ish. When the review is over, they'll ask you to step outside, conduct a vote, and if the yes-vote is unanimous, you're an Eagle!
Some suggestions, prep items and things to think about:
Plan on getting there 5 min. early
Class-A's all the way-----super-super sharp. If you have one, wear your Merit Badge Sash.
Plans after Eagle?? Remain active in troop?, camp-outs?, help with recruitment?, assist troop guides?, Jr. ASM? fundraising assistant? If your planning on being active, think about a role you'd like to fill.
How has 'Success in Scouting' spread to other areas of your life.
Oath, Law, Slogan (Do a Good Turn Daily), Motto (Be Prepared)
What does Eagle mean to you and why do you deserve it.
Refer to requirement # 6 and become very familiar with the tenants you detailed.
Reacquaint yourself with the Ea. Service Project; point of project etc. (more than "it provide you an opportunity to show leadership and organize a group to help the community") (remember the "Elevator Speech) - (Tell them about the project's uniqueness) (Tell'm about the project's uniqueness, its scale and creative leadership)
Remember all of your leadership positions.
Helpful hints in order to improve Scouting and specifically the troop.
Be confident, "remember the good things you did”.
I strongly suggest that you save and when you deem it necessary, print this e-mail so you can effectively prepare and rehearse with confidence. This is not what I'd consider an exhaustive list of prep items etc, but hopefully, it gives you some food for thought.
Happy Trails!
Mr. T
