AB Eagle:  Installation Day

Today is Saturday, July 23, 2005.  AB and his team spent their Saturday moving the construction project from his home to Cosley Park, and then assembling the actual unit.  There was obviously a significant amount of planning and action prior to today.

Cosley Children's Zoo is a landmark in Wheaton that draws many visitors from far away places.

Behind the scenes, this is a pool on the ground that held turtles.  After today, they won't be needing those pools anymore!  They are being replaced by "state-of-the-art" tubs that are easy to work with.

The day started at AB's house at 8 AM.

The concrete bases for the project were loaded into the van.  Everybody helped bring something out!

AB and his Eagle Project team had measured and remeasured and built the infrastructure in the months prior to today.  The team members selected for today were older scouts who were able to move large structures with ease.

Once we arrived at the Cosley Children's Park, we headed to a secure area behind the barn.  We got right to work, carrying the supplies to the construction area.

Then they set up the drains.

While several scouts worked on the drains, AB and his longtime Troop 374 best friend set up the first counter.

When the drains were installed, the rest of the scouts attached the legs.

From time to time, the staff members from Cosley checked in on us.  To say that they were ecstatic about the completion of this project is an understatement.  This staff member raved about how much simpler this aspect of their daily routine was going to be from now on.

About noon, Mr. T. and Mr. Brunton went out to pick up some lunch.

The plumbing was installed after lunch.

At about 4 PM, the phase two team is photographed with the finished project.

This fantastic project was organized down to the smallest detail...and there were a whole bunch of details!

AB demonstrated superior leadership skills in every aspect of this day.

Congratulations, AB, on your absolute success!
